Hi there! My name is Tana Bhuphaibool (She/Her) and I am a Licensed Master Social Worker. I am also a proud transgender Thai American woman. I graduated from Adelphi University with a Masters in Social Work. Throughout my career I’ve worked in homeless shelters, youth programs, and mental health clinics. I’ve worked with clients of all backgrounds ranging from youth to seniors. I’ve worked with clients who’ve experienced all kinds of adverse life challenges such as homelessness and loss of loved ones. I admire the resilience every single person has shown.
I utilize a strengths-based approach to help my clients discover how much they are capable of. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorders, schizophrenic disorders, complex trauma, addiction, and personality disorders. I work with my clients to develop a respectful and trusting relationship where we collaboratively choose which strategies work best.
As a transgender woman and member of the LGBTQIA+ community I am passionate about helping those who’ve encountered sudden life changes and stressors such as loss of family support, changes in relationships, discrimination, and loss of employment. Along with the difficulties, I am passionate about helping people become confident and happy with who they are. I work with my clients to develop self-regulation skills to use when life, or emotions feel out of control.
