Hi., My name is Kathalina, but I prefer to be called Kat. My pronouns are She/Her. I welcome and embrace you for making space to explore your healing journey.
I was born and raised in Queens, NY. I attended SUNY Nassau Community College for my Associate of Arts in Human Services. I transferred to CUNY Queens College for my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. I earned my Master's in Social Work at CUNY Hunter Silberman School of Social Work. I am unapologetically proud to be a Queer Latina and first-generation Central American.
I have worked with Adults interested in getting their High School Equivalency or ESOL throughout my career, advocating for clients in the criminal justice system from 18 years old and up to process the impact of incarceration. During the pandemic, I interned with the Youth Justice Board, where I co-facilitated a group of high school students to research “The Impact of LGBTQ+ Youth in Systems.” Lastly, I have volunteered in the NYC Pride Parade.
Everyone has a story. You deserve to be heard, seen, and accepted. Healing flows differently in all of us as we learn new capabilities and go at the pace we are comfortable exploring. Each person has allowed me to learn from their experiences. I am passionate about supporting my clients to feel empowered and be a part of their treatment.
I love music, photography, books, and creative outlets. I welcome your creative expression to express what is sometimes hard to explain or put into words. There is beauty in the struggle. Thank you for allowing me to join your journey.
